Hello I'm Alyson.
I'm shortly moving to Australia and therefore sadly will be closing my private practice at the end of the year. As a result I won't be taking on any new clients in the United Kingdom.
I have learned so much from my clients over the years and I thank them all for what they have shown me, but especially thank them for trusting me to help and support them through their difficult time.
I qualified with Honours at Middlesex University in Integrative Relational Counselling and I am now a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP). My training encompassed developmental, psychodynamic, gestalt and humanistic perspectives. This means that I am able to fit my counselling and psychotherapeautic approach to your individual needs. I believe our therapeutic relationship is important and I strive to generate trust within our relationship which will enable you to open up and get the most out of the session.
In summer 2021 I completed my MSc in Psychology at Kingston London University to expand my knowledge and expertise.
My experience includes working within a 6th form college, working within the NHS and Private Practice over a number of years. I have worked with many difficulties such as disordered eating, mother-daughter relationships, anxiety, depression, suicide within the family, race, marriage breakdown, work related problems, adolescent peer relationships, gender transitioning to name but a few. However, I have a particular interest in working with religion & spirituality, eating disorders including obesity, visual impairment and working with teenagers.
I understand how much courage it takes to reach out for support. The process of therapy, can help you to understand yourself better and make the changes you want. Sometimes you just need a helping hand.
I am available via either email or telephone. Click on the email icon or call me on my mobile if you wish to make an appointment or to discuss how I can help. I look forward to hearing from you.
